Today we'll have the class splint into 50/50 for time.

First half
I want to firmly establish which groups are which.  I'll be coming around to talk to each of you about what group you're in.  Groups need to be from 1 to 4 students.  While I'm coming around and compiling this information start figuring out what your group will do.  Here are a few options...

1) STEM Challenge.  The requirements for 2016 have not been released yet, but they seem to be the same every year.

2)  Technovation.  Sorry guys, this one is girls only.

3)  Apps for Statefarm.  This is an important one that I need some high-speeds to work on.  I'll talk a little more about this one in class.  Basically, you'll be making GPS-using apps for android devices.  This is an excellent opportunity for "non-coders" because you'll be using the appInventor 2 from MIT.

4)  New toys from Texas Instruments.  I have several of these.  We just got them and I have no idea how they work yet.  I need a group of people who like to learn new things to play with this.  If most of the group members are also in engineering - even better.  This could lead to cross-curriculum project with your engineering class too.  {note: TI isn't so good advertising.  Don't let the boring website fool you.}

5)  Other ideas.  Maybe you have some other idea you want to try?  Let me know!

The other half of class...
We'll start on learning a little bit of SQL.  Most of this will be on your own through W3 schools.  Afterwards, you'll play a cold-war style missile defense game.

Step 0)  Goto w3 schools website and work through SQL lessons.  Start at the top and work through the "Order By" lesson.

Step 1)  Try out this game.  The hardest part of this is reading the instructions on the left-hand side each time.

step 2)  Coming next week... it's a SQL quiz in eclass.
